Showcase, Westfield HS) recently signed her letter of intent to play for
University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Jo is the first scholarship player
to come out of the WFBC program. Congratulations Jo!

by winning the Silver medal in the USBC championships. OUTSTANDING JOB!

2006 - The U11 Mustangs were named as an Honorable mention All
Academic team this week at the Youth Basketball of America (YBOA) Nationals. In
particular, Minh C. Bui was named as one of five All-Academic players in the 11
year old division and Meghan DiPippa and Dazia Hall were named as two of the
nine Honorable Mention All-Academic players in the 11 year old division.

- The U11 Mustangs opened Youth Basketball of America (YBOA) pool play with a convincing 38-9
victory over the Tallahassee (FL) Comets. The Mustangs then dropped a tough
second game to the Forest City (NC) Heat 33-21, but rebounded in their third
game with another victory against the Baltimore (MD) Cougars 32-26. GREAT JOB GIRLS!

- The U9N team finishes 17th in the Nation at the AAU National Championship

- The U9N team under coach Cliff Toma defeated the Baltimore Cougars, 24-19, for
the first ever WFBC victory at an AAU National Championship tournament.

- The U15N really enjoyed their trip to the Mid Penn Motion tournament. It
was capped off with a trip to Hershey Park. I think this photo says it
all!

- The U15N team under coach Tom Watson won the Silver Medal, the U15R team under
coach Rein Kiewel won the Silver Medal, the U9N team under coach Cliff Toma won the
Bronze Medal, and the Showcase team under coach Dwight Trimmer won the Bronze
Medal (U17) in the Potomac Valley Regional competition. Congratulations on a great job!

- The U15N team had an exciting weekend at the Adidas Deep South Tournament.
Venues included Duke, UNC and NC State. It was a great weekend of
competition.

- The U11N team won the YBOA VA qualifier tournament
held in VA Beach this last weekend. The team went undefeated to to meet the Williamsburg Colonial
Patriots in the championship. In the championship game, at the end of the first quarter the team
trailed 15-3. The girls made a strong come back to hold the Patriots scoreless
in the next two quarters to go ahead 27-15 at the end of the third quarter. The
final score was 31 to 21 for the Mustangs. Congratulations on an
outstanding job!

- The 15U Regional team took runner-up honors for their age group in the YBOA
qualifier tournament held in Alexandria, VA on April 8-9. The team regrouped and
rallied from a 15-point deficit at half time but finished just short during the
championship game on Sunday. Samantha Spencer was named to the All Tournament
Team for her outstanding play on the weekend. Congratulations to the entire team
and to Samantha.

- WFBC tryouts have been completed. More than 200 players tried out for
the 2006 season. Tournament play begins on March 18.

- Through the course of the morning, nearly 200 girls ages 9 through 17 attended the 2nd Annual WFBC Basketball Clinic.
The clinic staff included coaches from varsity programs at Westfield HS, Herndon HS,
Centreville HS, South Lakes HS, Chantilly HS, and Park View HS as well as
coaches from CYA, SYA, and HOC. Special thanks to
Cassel's Sporting Goods for
sponsoring T-Shirts for all attendees.
