Welcome to
the Western Fairfax Basketball Club (WFBC)
WFBC is an
Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) organization for girl athletes who have a
desire to take their skills to the next level and who want to play
competitive AAU basketball. WFBC is based out of Western Fairfax County
and practices in those respective areas whenever possible.
WFBC is
working to make the following commitment to its players:
- WFBC
will feature experienced high school and AAU coaches whenever
possible
- WFBC
will use Western Fairfax County facilities for practices whenever
possible
- WFBC is
committed to developing young players to their full potential
- WFBC is
committed to maintaining the best basketball web resource possible
WFBC
Mission
The mission of
WFBC is to help girls between the ages of nine and seventeen to become
the finest amateur athletes—and citizens—possible. WFBC will help young
players advance their basketball skills while fostering sportsmanship,
self sacrifice, determination, dedication and acceptance of
responsibility.
WFBC will
achieve the above by:

Encouraging the development of basketball skills for multiple age
groups

Providing an equal opportunity to all players through yearly open
try-outs
- Using
the best possible facilities in the Western Fairfax County area

Encouraging sportsmanship and fair competition at the highest
possible levels

Supporting the development of girl’s basketball and girls sports in
general

In our third season, the WFBC Mustangs continued to have
success on the court. WFBC picked up Gold Medals at
AAU Super Regional and Potomac Valley Regional AAU
competitions and sent teams to the AAU National tournaments. The WFBC
Showcase team also performed well at the Penn State Invitational,
Adidas Deep South, US Junior Nationals, and numerous
other elite showcase tournaments,
WFBC alumni have been on numerous varsity teams
including Westfield HS, Centreville HS,
Chantilly HS, Annandale HS,
Battlefield HS,
Broad Run HS,
Dominion HS, Flint Hill HS, Herndon HS, Paul VI, Notre Dame Academy,
South Lakes HS, Seton HS, and St. John's HS
(Washington, DC) .
Additionally,
numerous other WFBC players are on junior varsity
and freshman
squads throughout Northern Virginia. In the college ranks, WFBC
alumni are currently playing for numerous schools including University ofMaryland
Eastern Shores, Slippery Rock University,
Christopher Newport University,
Lynchburg College, and Division 3 Final Four team
University of Mary Washington.
